River Assessment Fieldwork Team (RAFT) – Training!

October 7, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Help us to monitor and steward our shared environment so that we can live in a Los Angeles where everyone has access to healthy, living and safe waterways!

Join us for a training day along the Arroyo Seco tributary of the LA River with the CA State Water Resources Control Board. We’ll learn about and run through our new field methodology for our next year of monitoring. We will start with a training presentation and then work on practicing our field methodology, which includes stream assessment techniques, macroinvertebrate bioassessment and water quality monitoring.

We are preparing to conduct a monthly study of the Los Angeles River’s water quality and ecological health along the Arroyo Seco, Glendale Narrows and South Gate sections of the river. Your participation will further our understanding of the river’s health and inform our calls for ecosystem restoration along the entire river and throughout its watershed.

Space is limited and is available on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact our Watershed Programs Manager, Melissa von Mayrhauser, melissavm@lawaterkeeper.org, to RSVP and for more information.
