Our events are a great way to meet new people, have fun and show your support for our mission to protect and restore LA’s waterways. We have 3 signature events each year, in addition to smaller events surrounding particular campaigns.
Our annual Making Waves gala is a celebration of our work and an opportunity to honor the people who dedicate themselves to LA Waterkeeper. The event has been held the past few years in Septemer at the historic Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalowes in Santa Monica. For more information, click here.
SUP for Clean Water is LAW’s annual paddleboard race and marine festival held in the Point Dume Marine Protected Area (MPA). The 2017 event will be held at Paradise Cove in Malibu on April 22, and will benefit our MPA Watch program, which engages hundreds of volunteers in protecting our underwater sanctuaries. Visit sup4cleanwater.org for more information.
In partnership with the California Coastal Commission and Heal the Bay, our Coastal Cleanup Day event is held annually at Dockweiler Beach. In 2015, over 250 volunteers hauled in more than 350 pounds of trash & recyclables. Our beach cleanup site uniquely features a sea cleanup by volunteer scuba divers and a “Pellet Watch” where volunteers sift through sand for micro-plastics. For more information, please click here.
