Guy Biggs
Hailing from the UK, Guy grew up in the diverse communities of east London. Developing a passion for social justice and community organizing as a teenager, putting together local music events with the campaign Love Music Hate Racism, he went on to build a career in International Development and Humanitarian work. With over 10 years’ experience working across some of the world’s most challenging humanitarian and governance contexts, Guy has developed an expertise in non-profit development, mobilizing the power of donors and communities to deliver impact across social justice issues, particularly the environment.
Guy comes to LA Waterkeeper, incredibly excited by their impact and vision for a future LA region, where communities live with safe, accessible and resilient waterways and a flourishing and resilient natural environment. Across the world, Guy has seen how issues of natural resource management and environmental degradation are fundamental drivers of injustice and impoverishment. He feels passionately, from South Sudan to south-central LA, from Myanmar to Malibu, we are united by our shared connection to nature and reliance on natural systems and there is no work more urgent and vital.
In his free time, when he’s not exploring the coast and national parks of southern California, Guy is an avid music lover and ‘soccer’ fan, watching his team Crystal Palace struggle in the English Premier League and playing Sunday league football with friends.
